Risk and Information Governance department supports the delivery of effective Information Governance, Information Security, Risk, Business Continuity and Environmental management planning across the organisation to meet legislative and internal controls, improve business efficiency and reduce business risk.

The role

In this role you will support two teams at the SRA assisting them in in the delivery of day-to-day Information Governance and Security, Business Continuity & Environmental Management work across the business. You will support them in specific audit and assurance work as well as project work and initiatives for the improvement of information management and business compliance with standards and best practice.

You will support the Information Governance team who is responsible for ensuring the SRA’s compliance with the requirements of the data protection legislation. Amongst this team’s responsibilities are handling data protection queries and requests, management of the information security incidents and handling requests under the SRA’s Transparency Code (Freedom of Information Act).

Your role will be to assist the teams with tasks, such as electronic filing, document and policy review and to support case handling work by extracting and preparing information and liaising with relevant business areas.

Other part of this role is to provide support to the Business Resilience and the Environmental management workstreams, including specific audit and assurance work, developing and delivering training and awareness sessions.

This is an exciting role that will suit an individual who has good attention to detail, good time and workload management, good communication skills, and the ability to assess and prioritise competing demands on their time.

Some understanding of the legal framework governing personal data and experience in implementing ISO standards would be helpful.

 What we are looking for

  • Knowledge and understanding of key principles of Data Protection legislation, UK GDPR and Freedom of Information Act
  • Working experience in supporting governance and/or compliance functions
  • Analytical, accurate and efficient data handling skills, with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative, seeking guidance when appropriate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to produce high quality written work
  • Good level of IT skills knowledge and experience of using Microsoft O365 applications

  • Salary range for a Birmingham based role is £22,420.45 - £26,377.00 and an offer will be dependent on demonstrable knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate can bring to the role
