Azure Technical Architect

We are now recruiting for an Azure Cloud Architect to join our IT Operations team in our Birmingham office.

As a Technical Architect, you will predominantly be responsible for our Azure cloud platform (incorporating SaaS, PaaS and IaaS) alongside our cloud services team. You will be creating and maintaining our technical design documentation, allowing our development team to implement the designs you put into place.

As the subject matter expert, communication skills will be crucial in this role to make sure our technical solutions fit with our long-term goals. The freedom to collaborate with other Enterprise Architects allows us to be confident in ensuring design adheres to development.

This is an exciting time to join us. You will be setting the pace for our medium and large-scale Azure solutions, and you will have the tools to do so. Alongside this, our high-quality team has the capability and the drive to make this project a success.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Developer of Lead Programmer to step up into an Architect role.

What we are looking for:

  • Ability to influence key stakeholders and handle challenge.
  • Excellent communication skills, to translate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Manage multiple projects and timeframes, making sure quality standards are high.
  • Understand and resolve technical disputes of varying whilst managing risk

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Experience in designing of medium and large scale Azure solution implementations

Good knowledge of best practices and standards for design in the Azure technology stack

Experience in migrating from on premise environments to Azure IaaS and PaaS environments

Experience of working in an iterative development process such as Agile

Able to represent Technical teams and facilitate relationships with indirect stakeholders

Able to understand and resolve technical disputes across varying levels of complexity and risk

Experience of working in multiple projects and managing time

Able to work with external suppliers and liaise with their technical teams

Excellent communication skills

Desirable

Preferably from a development background

Professional certifications for relevant technologies

Azure DevOps - DevOps, CI / CD Pipelines, Terraform

Azure development - Logic Apps, App Service, Functions etc

Database Design - The specification, design and maintenance of database structures to support the IT solution

• System Design - The specification and design of IT solutions to meet defined business needs including integrating new solutions into existing systems. Ensuring that all aspects of the solution are designed to scale out and up according to the business need

Data Analysis - The investigation, evaluation and interpretation of the data in order to ensure its coherence, availability, accuracy and security according to the solution requirements

• Implementation - The transition of the solution from the project team into the operational environment in accordance with the agreed standards. Including the support of IT operational functions like change management, capacity management, help desks etc. (A good working knowledge of ITIL best practices would be expected)
