We are looking for an IT Procurement Specialist, or Procurement and Contract Management Business Partner ICT, as you will be known internally.

The role

In this role, you will be leading on the procurement of and management of IT contracts, which can be of a complex and technical nature. You will be accomplished in procurement with an appreciation and enthusiasm for IT. This is a matrix role, reporting into Procurement, and working in close association with IT.

Having worked in a similar role previously, you will bring strong commercial awareness and skills to manage and develop third party supplier relationships. You will be an expert in all aspects of procurement, inclusive of the development of the procurement strategy, and associated outputs such as tender documents, scoring matrices and risk profiles. You will track and review the contractual relationships in your area to ensure deliverables are being met.

The ability to build partnerships, as well as credibility and respect is vital in this role. You will work closely with senior managers and key customers to assess requirements and provide expert advice in line with best practice.

Your key priorities in this role will be gaining full visibility of IT contracts, entering into substantial negotiations with some key suppliers to gain better value, and driving a proactive approach to contract management and renewals.

Essential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

Strong experience of leading the procurement of and management of ICT contracts including those of a complex, technical nature

Strong commercial management skills

Extensive experience in research, planning and analysing suppliers for strategic and tactical purchases

Proven experience of managing and developing 3rd party supplier relationships, ensuring commercial risk and analysis profiles are fully understood

Proven experience of interpreting contracts (with legal support where required)

Ability to analyse and interpret complex issues and present them in a clear and concise written form

Experience of working with suppliers to continually improve services

Articulate with good communications skills, capable of dealing at a business level with senior managers, key customers and key suppliers

Experience of reviewing contracts to break down deliverables and obligations and to enable a recommendation on areas where savings can be made, or services delivered more efficiently

Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchase and Supply or Studying towards
